What can you visit in L’Escala?

To visit the Old Town is mandatory. A walk along the seashore, a visit to the Alfolí de la Sal building, the Sant Pere church, the old Marine Cemetery or the point where most of the events take place, la Platja.

The Seafront is another of the obligatory stops that can take you to the Les Planasses cliffs.

In the Port de la Clota we will find the Fisherman's Guild, the fish market where you can witness the fish auction every afternoon or the Fish Interpretation Center, to learn more about the daily life of fishermen and their fishing gear.

If you like nature, L'Escala has a great diversity of marine landscapes at the "Aiguamolls de l'Empordà" Natural Park and the Montgrí Natural Park come together here.

As you can see, they are ideal places for holidays as they offer many options.

L'Escala gastronomy is famous for its production of anchovies, a tradition that dates back to ancient times: from the Greeks and Romans to nowadays. Anchovies are part of their delicious dishes based on a rich Mediterranean diet.

Anchovies from l'Escala are born in a small workshop that is over 75 years old. Since its beginning, the women of La Escala are in charge of carrying out the entire process of cleaning and filleting the anchovies until they are packaged, as a craftsmanship work. A work that has been transferred from one generation to another and has given life to the region.

Another of the fundamental figures is the one of the anchovy masters, who are in charge of defining the excellence, texture and flavor. A product that will be maturing for a minimum of 6 months and up to a maximum of 2 years.

Their factory includes the latest technology and they are recognized for meeting all the required nutritional standards since they work with a single species of anchovy, Engraulis encrasicolus.

If you go to L'Éscala, do not hesitate to try them, they are a delight. And if you can't go, don't worry! As always, we bring them to you wherever you tell us. You just have to order it through our online store.
