Albacete, the town with the best knives

Today we are talking about Albacete.

It may not be one of the best known tourist destination. However, lately, its interest is increasing recently due to its fame for being considered the town of the knife in Spain.

What can you visit in Albacete?

  • Altozano Square. This square is located in the city center and dates back to the 18th century. It is a central point plenty of life and shops. In its gardens you will find the Monument to “el Cuchillero” and the “Bicha de Balazote”.

  • Albacete Cathedral. Declared a “Bien de Interés Cultural” (Point of Cultural Interest), its construction began in the 16th century, although it was not completed until 1949. It is a clear example of different artistic styles.

  • Old City Hall. That was the city hall between 1903 and 1986, and is also the Municipal Museum.

  • Jardinillos Park. If you go with children, a stop at this park is needed. It is also the oldest park in Albacete.

  • Museo Municipal de la Cuchillería (Municipal Museum of Cutlery): You cannot leave the City of Cutlery without visiting this museum. It is in front of the Cathedral of San Juan Bautista, in what is called the old Casa del Hortelano. You will be able to discover all the history and tradition of knives from Albacete.

Let's move on to the delicacies. You should not leave Albacete without having tried the Atascaburras, the Manchego Gazpachos, the Manchego Pisto, the Migas ruleras or the Ajo mataero. Of course, you should also try their Manchego cheeses.
