Sausages and Cecina

Preservation

Non-started sausages: We recommend storing it in a cool, dry place, at constant temperature and with the packing. The perfect place to store it is in the fridge. In case of not having enough space, you can store it in a cool, dry place during some days.

Sausage started: Once we have started the piece and opened the packing, we can keep the part you don't want to eat in the fridge. You can keep it in a tupper if it is more comfortable for you or wrapped in a plastic film.

Consumption

The expiration date of the sausages, either it is sliced or whole, is 6 months approximately. For consuming it, we give you the following recommendations:

  • Take the portion to consume out of the fridge about 30 minutes before, so that it warms up.

  • Cut it into thin slices to enhance its qualities of taste and aroma.

  • The sausage goes well with some bread and a good red wine.

What to do if the packing loses its vacuum?

If the packing has lost its vacuum, which does not usually happen, we recommend consuming it as soon as possible. If you have further questions, contact us and we will give advice.

Oil

Preservation

Extra Virgin Olive Oil does not have an expiration date, but it has preferred consumption date. For its better conservation, the following storage tips may be applied:

  • Avoid direct contact with the light.

  • Store in a dry place at room temperature, so that the oil will maintain its properties.

  • It is important that the container has hermetic seal to prevent the contact of oxygen and external agents with the oil.

What types of packaging are there?

  • Plastic bottle: This packaging is the simpler. To keep these oils in perfect condition, they may be stored in a cool, dry and dark place. It may be stored inside a closet in the kitchen or in a cardboard box, so that it is not directly exposed to light.

  • Glass bottle: Those bottles are usually made of dark glass and best protect the oil from the light. If the glass is not dark, store it inside a closet in the kitchen.

  • Aluminum can bottle: This type of container is mainly used for large amounts of olive oil, which protects it from sunlight. It is a very good option for those who consume a lot of olive oil or for restaurants.

Gourmet

Preservation

Non-started cans may be stored during long periods without altering its properties. This is one of its main advantages.

If you have started a can, you can store it inside the fridge in a glass jar or a tupper. If stored in the original can, it will dry more easily if it is not covered with sauce or olive oil.

Cheese

Preservation

Whole cheese: It may be kept vacuum packed in the least cold part of the fridge for several months. If it does not fit in the fridge and will be consumed soon, it can be left without the plastic in a cool, dark place at room temperature or in a cheese dish.

Whole cheese started or portion: Once the cheese has been started, it may be kept in the fridge wrapped in cling film or inside a cheese dish. If the atmosphere is fresh and the cheese is cured, it can be left in a cheese dish outside the fridge.

Ham holders

How can we extend the useful life of ham holders?

It is important to know how to take care of our ham holder, so it lasts for many years and many hams. Here are some helpful guidelines:

  • Clean it well every time we finish the slicing of a ham or shoulder, especially the metallic pieces.

  • Store it clean in a dry place.

  • Do not use the base as a chopping board, unless it is made by materials giving it that double use.

Knives

How can I extend useful life of my knife?

It is recommended to have the ham knife always sharpened to get better and thinner slices from our ham. To keep it sharpened for longer, it can be stored in a cover or in a kitchen cloth.

On the other hand, it is recommended to use the knife to sliced whole pieces and avoid blunting.
